The Disruptors Episode 11: God Ideas and Witty Inventions

2/13/2018

Comments

Our topic for this episode is “God Ideas & Witty Inventions.” In honor of Black History Month, our Bible study included how God used the ingenious Dr. George Washington Carver to change the agricultural economy of Georgia and the Southeastern United States. We discuss how his story is reminiscent of another scientific miracle that occurred in the Bible. Enjoy and share!
You can watch it here or listen to the audio of The Disruptors Podcast in my mobile app. I also encourage you to join us for our next live broadcast next Monday at 8:30 PM est.

Want to be More Creative in Your Business? Learn to Daydream Again

8/3/2016

It's that time of year when school is starting again all over the country. Parents are ushering their little prodigies into learning environments where hopefully they will be encouraged to dream big and to believe they can be anything they want to be in life. They are inspired and pushed to use their imaginations to the fullest extent. And they should be!

It's interesting, though, that for too many children that message changes the closer they get to high school graduation. Subtle shifts in language suggest teens "stop daydreaming" and "grow up," often times translates in their minds to "become a boring adult like me." And then when they become adults they figure that new responsibilities somehow force them to put their dreams on the shelf of life only to be admired from afar.

I would argue, especially for you entrepreneurs, that your imagination is critical to your creativity, which is essential to your business growth. You can't allow the pressures of business and life to snuff out your imagination. Daydreaming is just as important now - maybe even moreso - than it was when you were in grade school.

My friend Patrice Tsague, Chief Servant Officer of entrepreneurship training organization Nehemiah Project, says about dreaming:
"Dreaming is giving our imagination the freedom to conceive future possibilities that are not bound by our current reality. It is the freedom to explore without having to worry about the cost or consequences because you have not involved intellect in the process. Dreaming is freedom, and if you never dream, you will never do great things."
You absolutely need your imagination to develop one-of-a-kind products, create innovative marketing campaigns, provide your customers with unforgettable service, and many more things that can distinguish your business from all others. Your imagination can be a competitive advantage if you use it the right way.

I encourage you to take some time today to daydream about your business. It could be just what you need to grow like never before!

7 Biblical Strategies to Monetize Your Imagination

PictureSpecial Teleconference Recording
Everything that we experience in life is the manifestation of an idea. The universe, earth, and mankind were all once ideas in God's imagination before they came into being. In fact in Genesis 1:1-3, God gives us His formula for bringing ideas into reality, and it starts with your imagination. Why? Because how you utilize your imagination is central to manifesting the resources need to accomplish God's vision in the earth.

Your God-given imagination is more powerful than you realize. And when it's under the control of the mind of Christ and the tutorship of the Holy Spirit your possibilities are endless, including how you create income streams for your business and household. After all, He gave us the power to get wealth  (Deuteronomy 8:18), the knowledge of witty inventions (Proverbs 8:12), and He said He would lead us in the way that is profitable (Isaiah 48:17).  Even your faith is connected to your imagination based on Hebrews 11:1.

Recently I recorded a teleseminar entitled,
7 Biblical Strategies to Monetize Your Imagination. The focus of this training session was to help you understand how to unlock the incredible gift He gave you to accomplish the strategies and plans that He has for you.

This MP3 is available for only $4.90 if you include the 30% discount (more than likely less than you'll pay for lunch today :)

5 Activities to Crank Up Your Creativity

Why does it seem that some people are more creative than others? Whether it’s art, music, design, poetry, etc., it’s like these things are so easy for certain people. Yet for others it seems like they don’t have a creative bone in their bodies.

Creativity is not simply an issue of nature (born with) vs. nurture (learned). It’s both. For some, creativity is a natural gift. For others it’s developed over time. In either case your creativity needs to be stimulated.

With the incredible mind that God has given us, His expectation is that we would use it more creatively than we often do. Furthermore, utilizing creativity is an important tool for implementing your dream.

Unfortunately, many people are intimidated by the thought of being creative so they don’t challenge themselves in this area. Interestingly, research supports the concept of “use it or lose it“, i.e. brain cells can die if they are not stimulated.

Well, it’s not as hard to stimulate your brain cells as you may think. You can “catalyze” your creativity using five easy activities:

  1. Initiate: Don’t wait to get hit in the head with a great idea. Pursue new ideas through interactions with conversations, social media, networking, books, museums, nature, etc.
  2. Imagine: Schedule time to brainstorm and write down random ideas. Also, keep a journal or voice recorder close by for when these thoughts come to you.
  3. Investigate: Explore subjects outside of your expertise or interest. You may find incredible ideas and concepts in unexpected places that you can transfer to your situation.
  4. Innovate: Don’t just think about it – try it! You never know what’s going to work if you never put anything new into action.
  5. Inspire: Share your ideas with others. You might be able to inspire someone else with something that didn’t seem so great to you. Also, they may be able to add something to your idea to complete it.

In order to continually stimulate your creativity, you need to intentionally venture outside of your daily routine. In fact, these types of activities should be part of your daily routine!

How do you catalyze your creativity? What is the most creative thing you have done lately to stimulate your imagination?

Leave a comment. I would love to hear your thoughts.

This is an excerpt from a chapter of my highly anticipated new book, Inc. My Dream: A God Inspired Process To Turn Your BIG Into A Dream Business. Learn more about this resource for business startups and those who need a fresh start in your business at www.incmydream.com.
************
You have probably heard it said that good ideas are “a dime a dozen.” It is really fairly easy to come up with a “good” idea for a business. However, while these ideas may seem good at the time of conception, they are not necessarily good for you. Why is that?

Every idea that comes to your mind is not meant for you to do. Moreover, ideas you see working for other people may not be meant for you to do. You must identify what God has called you to do and stick to that. Many Christians spend a lot of time dealing with trial and error in their businesses, because they don’t take the time to get all the needed instructions from God. And while He redeems our time and experiences, some trials could be avoided and time could be saved by only doing what God has truly told us to do, not just allowed us to do.

Do you realize that having the mind of Christ is more than helping us think pure thoughts and make the right decisions? Although, these aspects are critical to a holy human life, they are not the only qualities of Christ's mind that were meant to benefit us here on the earth.

God Wants To Help You Turn His Ideas Into Your Income

"… I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go."
Isaiah 48:17
Do you realize that God's plans for you do not include you living in fruitless frustration? His desire is that you would prosper in every way. Unfortunately, many Christians have not understood or embraced the  principles and strategies God uses to transform their spiritual relationship with Him into a prosperous life. One of these principles is to recognize in scripture that miracles most often occurred when God's ideas were manifested through human obedience.

That's why I know that my highly anticipated forthcoming book, Inc. My Dream: A God Inspired Process to Turn Your BIG Idea Into A Dream Business, will equip you to be able to transform the ideas God gives you into profitable businesses that glorifies Him and transforms lives.

Just go to www.incmydream.com to learn more about this unique and dynamic resource that will help you make the successful transition from dreaming about business to doing it!

The Man, the Music, the Medicine - Thursday on Passion in Action TV

I love it when I have the opportunity to interview people who are diverse in their talents and using them in unique ways that glorify God. This Thursday on Passion in Action TV I have the privilege to interview Dr. Mark Williams, a board-certified ear, nose, and throat physician. In addition to his establishing his private surgical practice on the campus of Southern Hills Medical Center, he is also an adjunct assistant professor at Meharry Medical College and founded the Voice Care Center of Nashville, where he specializes in treating and preventing voice problems in Christian and Gospel music artists. As an independent gospel recording artist himself, Dr. Williams has a keen insight to not only the medical and surgical implications of voice disturbances, but also the many spiritual impacts.

You can learn more about this dynamic man of God and how he uses his talents in business and ministry this Thursday at 7 PM EST at www.passioninaction.tv. Don't forget to invite your friends. See you Thursday!

Stop Complaining and Start Solving!

"Every problem is a business... The man who solves it becomes an employer!" ~ Dr. Myles Munroe
A sure way to achieve success in business is to solve other people's problems profitably. When you produce solutions that help other people or organizations do something better, easier, faster, or cheaper you can just about guarantee that you will be compensated handsomely. Further, when you do it well enough and over a long period of time, your reputation as a problem solver will bring business to your doorstep.

Whether you're an employee or entrepreneur, problem solvers are always in demand and never go out of style. No matter what industry you're in or career path you follow, problem solving skills are always at a premium. Regardless of what your job description says, if you're a great problem solver you will be easy to promote and hard to fire.

RELATED: Dream B.I.G. in 3D: How to Pursue a Bold, Innovative, God-Inspired Life!

The more problems you see the more ideas should be generated in your mind that can be channeled through your job or business. Don't fall into the easy trap of running your mouth with negativity when you really should be focusing your mind on creativity. Just because a bunch of other people are doing it doesn't make it right or profitable. You will separate yourself from the crowd when you refuse to complain about situations and instead focused on producing win-win resolutions.

"If you have time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to do something about it." ~ Anthony J. D'Angelo

With all the problems in the world today, you are never without opportunities to solve problems that can earn you a comfortable income. So if you're struggling financially, look for a problem to solve and ask God for the wisdom to do the job done well and profitably (James 1:5).
