Project THRIVE is a collaboration between Redemption and Advancement Alliance and Kinsman Inc., in partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine and Villages at Carver Family YMCA in South Atlanta. Our focus is on empowering men with challenging backgrounds and circumstances to make "Healthy Choices for a Successful Life."

Our first event was held on January 24th. We had several session including fitness, nutrition, sexual health, drug and alcohol addiction awareness training, and mental/emotional awareness. From excellent instructors to a professional chef, the 15 attendees had a great time and provided very useful feedback which we'll use to develop our long-term programming. It was a great success and the men provide great feedback with which we'll use to develop a long-term program.

Stay tuned for the next event!

#YourDreamMatters: Your Dream Is Meant To Be A Gift That Keeps Giving

1/28/2015

Picture
Did you know the manifestation of your dream was meant to be a gift from God that keeps giving to others? On the most recent Sunday night Dream Catalyst Weekly Prayer Call I taught about the Parable of the Ten Minas found in Luke 19. One of the key principles gleaned from this parable - similar to the Parable of the Talents found in Matthew 25 - is that the most significant reward for our faithfulness is not money. Instead it's responsibility that's connected to influence over people.

We must recognize that the dream given to us by God comes with His expectation that through the fulfillment of our dreams our lives will continually be a blessing to others.

How to Build Spiritual Capacity to Receive Your Dream

1/22/2015

Picture
This unique training, part of my new Dream Builders Webinar Series, will help you realize God's process of making your dreams come true is a matter of "heart work" more than hard work. The grace of God allows us to partner with Him to get more results and find more fulfillment with less stress and toil when we have a godly "receiver" mindset versus a worldly "achiever" mindset.

Listen to the Dream Catalyst Prayer Call Playback - The Power to BEcome!

We had another powerful call this week in our continuing series #YourDreamMatters: From Dreaming to Thriving. The specific focus on this call was part 2 of Grace vs. Grind. During the devotional portion I talked about how important it is for us to focusing more on "becoming" rather than "doing" or performing our way into God's grace.

When you understand your true identity in Christ you will embrace the fact that you don't have to earn or perform your way into God's grace.

In addition to listening to the call I also included some bonus content for you to download. Just click the link below and enjoy!

As we commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I am reminded of one of his most potent quotes:
"If a man hasn't discovered something to die for, he is not fit to live."

#YourDreamMatters Call Playback Week 2 - Grace vs. Grind

1/14/2015

It's amazing how many Christian entrepreneurs glory in their grind more than relying upon the grace of God. On this week's prayer call the focus was on the choices that we make to either work based on our own strength or work resting in the strength of God. And according to Mark 4:1-20, our choice and the corresponding harvest (or lack thereof) is based on the condition of our hearts.

You will definitely be blessed and challenged by this call (I know because I was challenged as I was in teaching it). Click below to listen to the call and download the teaching notes. You can also access the previous call and notes if you haven't done so already.

Also, don't forget to mark your calendar for the continuation of this series, #YourDreamMatters: From Dreaming to Thriving, this Sunday at 8:30 PM

3 Ways to Use Your Spiritual Gifts in Business

1/6/2015

Did you know that your spiritual gifts were not just meant for church and could also be used in business? In reality, because we are the church and our spiritual gifts are always with us, they can be used in any environment as we are led by the Spirit of God. Many people miss out on their harvest because they put God and their spiritual gifts in a box and don't realize or embrace using them in the marketplace.

Darren Shearer, author of Marketing Like Jesus, recently recorded a great podcast discussing the 3 ways that you can use your spiritual gifts in business. He writes in his blog post:
"Certainly, we should offer our spiritual gifts in a way that helps our churches have outstanding services and excellent programs. I believe this is an essential part of transforming our communities.

Though, in addition to serving in a local church setting on a regular basis, as Christian businesspeople, shouldn’t we be using our spiritual gifts primarily in a business setting? Of course."
Using your spiritual gifts in business is a great lesson that should be taught in more churches. You can listen to the entire podcast here: http://darrenshearer.com/episode-30-3-ways-use-spiritual-gifts-business/

What are you spiritual gifts? How do you use them in your business?

3 Reasons Why Your Vision Board Could Be a Waste of Time

1/3/2015

Comments

Picture
It's "that" time again. What is "that" time you ask? At the beginning of the year it is very common to see many coaches and trainers offering vision boarding workshops and seminars as a way to help people visualize their dreams and goals for the year. Vision boarding can be a very powerful tool if utilized as part of an overall process of transformation, but it definitely is not as a silver bullet for success. Just because you create a vision board doesn't mean you will accomplish that vision  - even if you look at it every day all day.

Your vision boarding exercise will be a frustrating waste of time for the following three reasons:
  1. No written plan with specific goals and deadlines. A vision without a written plan is a fantasy. Without clarified vision, measurable goals, specific tasks, and trackable timelines, your vision board will become a nightmare of dissatisfaction and unfulfilled potential. This is a key reason why most people's New Year resolutions are in shambles before the end of January.
  2. No structured system of accountability. Without a written process and people to help you stay the course, your vision will be like a balloon that floats high in the sky and then pops. Your vision board will be full of nice pictures, but your life will lack the reality of what you envisioned. Ideally after you have complete your vision board you should connect with another person or group of people who are all committed to helping one another stay focused on utilizing a written plan to implement the vision. This is also critical because according to Habukkuk 2:2-3, a written vision and plan will attract people and resources, and allow you to delegate tasks to those who are most qualified to assist you with accomplishing your vision.
  3. Does not align with God's vision for your life. I save the most critical reason for last. Proverbs 16:2 teaches us, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps." And Ephesians 2:10 states, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." You can spend a lot of time creating a vision board - and you may even accomplish many of those things - but if God is not the source and the center of what you're doing you could in essence "gain the world and lose your soul." This doesn't mean you're pursuing bad things. However, it could mean that you are pursing things that weren't God-ordained for you and cause you to waste precious time.

I'm definitely a proponent of vision boards, but I'm not of a fan of getting people hyped up and started on something and then not equipping them with the tools they need to finish the process. If you don't have a God-directed plan, structured process, and committed team of people your implementation will be lacking and your vision will fail to come to pass.

If you're interested in taking the next step from vision boarding to Dream Mapping please contact me today at info@paulwilsonjr.com or (678) 310-3017.
