"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life." Proverbs 13:12
Too many Christians walk live a life of unfulfilled promises from God. They are broke(n) spiritually, relationally, emotionally, and financially. He is not the problem. Your ideas, talents, knowledge, skills, and experience are not the problem. This issue is with your heart.
In this special webinar presentation, How to Build Spiritual Capacity to Receive Your Dream, I discuss the difference between "heart work" (God's way to success) vs. hard work (the world's way to success). You don't have to be broke(n) anymore if you don't want to be. Click this link to learn more... This article is from a guest blog post I wrote for Gospel Today Magazine... We all have dreams. I’m not talking about the dreams that you have at night. I’m talking about the thoughts and desires that are so much a part of you, you seemingly can’t get away from them. It’s that hunger and drive inside of you to be something more than what you are right now; to do something far beyond what you have accomplished at this point in your life. It’s the thing that you love to talk about more than anything else. Even if you don’t talk about it much, it’s still got a hold of you more than you have a hold of it. While our life’s dreams should inspire us to be and do more, they often lead to frustration when we don’t know how to transform them into reality. One of the key reasons is that God is often left out of that process. We hear people tell us to “dream big,” but if your big dream is not connected to God plans for your life, your efforts will be futile. From His perspective, C.E.O. stands for "Christ's Executive Officer." The focus of that article was on those who start and/or lead companies. However, this definition of C.E.O. can be expanded beyond just business owners and would also include any Christian who has a leadership position directly responsible for other people. Here is how this divine understanding of C.E.O. relates to any Christian in any type of leadership role:
As you can see this description is not just for Christian business owners. This broader understand of a C.E.O. applies to you if you work for a company and have management responsibility over other people. God is giving you the opportunity and empowerment to impact lives through your leadership. So the next time somebody asks you if you're a C.E.O., give them a resounding YES! In Luke 5 we see Peter and his brothers minding their own business fishing on Lake Gennesaret. Little did they know what they were about to get into when they allowed Jesus to preach a sermon on their boat. Their business and lives would never be the same. Shifting from alleviating to creating prosperity Poverty, unemployment, and hopelessness are unfortunate realities for too many people in our urban communities. Churches are called to reach the poor, but they can't have transformational impact working by themselves. They must partner with businesses to make this happen. In fact they might need to partner with your business... In the business world everyone understands what the term CEO stands for, as in Chief Executive Officer. This is the person in charge. The head honcho. The top dog. The buck-stops-here, no-nonsense, focused, decision-making leader at the top of the company food chain. A lot of power typically comes along with this position. Much fear or respect - which one depends on how they treat their employees and others - is included in this package. And the most common evaluation of performance is how well the company produced financially. Well for a Christian, God's expectations for the role of the person at the head of a company comes from a different perspective and takes on a greater level of significance. In fact, for a Christian CEO doesn't stand for Chief Executive Officer. It actually stands for Christ's Executive Officer. This "subtle" difference in titles changes everything for the leader of a company who has committed their life to becoming a disciple of Jesus. It's critical to understand this difference because God is evaluating you based on a different set of criteria than how the world most often judges CEOs. Here is what I consider the job description of one of these special roles in the corporate enterprise called the Kingdom of God:
If the CEO of the Universe has hired and commissioned you to start or lead a business you are indeed Christ's Executive Officer. Fortunately you don't need to worry about doing this in your own strength. You have the full endorsement of the eternal Board of Directors (Holy Trinity) and their staff (angels) to ensure your efforts are successful. So, are you ready to embrace this most excellent of opportunities? Leave your comments below...
