It's going to be another exciting and empowering week on Passion in Action TV. My guest this Thursday is Dr. Robert J. Watkins, CEO of Kings and Priests Unlimited, Inc., a business-focused ministry committed showing the Body of Christ how to build wealth, leave a legacy and develop into the leader God designed you to be. According to Robert, "I’ve made it my life’s passion to develop leaders at all levels. I understand how it feels to live a life in holy frustration without support, resources or purpose. That's why I made "solving problems for people, corporations and non-profits" my business." Married for 20 years with two wonderful daughters, Robert has had the privilege to serve in the military, write best-selling financial and business books, possess relationships with world-class leaders and speak to hundreds of thousands of people who, like you, value what it takes to become a great leader. His audiences not only leave my sessions with memorable experiences, but it changes the way they think. He truly believes that if you follow God's specific plans good things will happen for you. In recent years there has been a shift in the conversation of how we can more effectively eliminate poverty in third world countries. And most of the discussion centers around increasing enterprise and entrepreneurship among the poor vs. increasing aid given to them. One of the leading voices in this change of thought is Michael Matheson Miller, a Research Fellow at the Acton Institute and the Director of Poverty Cure. He wrote this in a recent article: We see poverty in the developing world and we ask—what can I do? So we send food, water, clothes. We sponsor children, build wells, start schools and go on mission trips; we wear wristbands, we sign petitions, we advocate. But what if the question that animates our activity is the wrong one? God desires that all of His children would prosper, so the conversation around this shift to creating prosperity shouldn't just be for third world countries. I believe these is a very timely and relevant discussion even for Christians in America. We need to more deeply consider how we are strategically attacking the issues of poverty in our own national backyard, especially as it relates to utilizing enterprise and entrepreneurship to empower people to becomes agents of their own transformation. I'm excited about this shift and I hope to part of not just the conversations but the practical application / implementation of these ideas and concepts. Read Miller's full article posted on QIdeas: http://www.qideas.org/blog/the-shift-from-alleviating-poverty-to-creating-prosperity.aspx With Passion in Action TV I'm always excited to interview leaders who inspire and motivate you to live the life God designed you for and this week's show is definitely no exception. My special guest is Paul D. Jones, a Kingdom entrepreneur in a true sense of the word. Here are a few highlights from his bio:
Learn more about how Paul and how he achieved success as a godly millionaire this Thursday, August 1st, live streaming at 7 PM ET only at www.passioninaction.tv. You can watch on your computer or any mobile device. See you Thursday! Everything that God planned for us to do in the earth, He desires for us to be successful in doing it. That's why the Bible includes the blueprint for success for every single person, no matter what their individual purpose. This includes entrepreneurs and other businesspeople. Following what God said in Joshua 1:8, here are 7 principles that you can apply to your business that will guarantee success in God's eyes even if you don't look successful from society's perspective. As an aside, the only reason these principles would be considered "secrets" to you is if you don't read your Bible... 1) Prayer - Everything significant that happens in the Kingdom of God is preceded by prayer and sustained by prayer. Further, your business is an answer to someone's prayer. So pray and get God's wisdom on what you should do and how you should do it.
2) Purpose - I agree with my friend Antonina Greer who says God has a purpose for your business to bring glory to Him and transformation to those you serve.
4) Patience and Perseverance - The best of entrepreneurs realize that great businesses are not grown overnight. Commit to press through the mundane to get to the magnificent!
5) Practice - Perfect practice makes perfect. God is not asking you for perfection, but He is asking for your diligence. Your diligence will lead to your long-term success.
6) Profits - God is excited when His children prosper. He's not a deadbeat or evil IRS agent waiting for His cut. He gets excited when you flourish financially. He just wants to help you steward it properly so it can be sustained.
[RELATED: My Father's Business: Biblical Strategic for the Entrepreneurial Economy] 7) Praise - Without God we can do nothing. With Him nothing is impossible. Give the proper credit to whom it is due. Gratitude creates an atmosphere that attracts blessings.
8) Partnerships - Without God we can do nothing. With Him nothing is impossible. Give the proper credit to whom it is due. Gratitude creates an atmosphere that attracts blessings.
*********************Business ResourcesI'm really looking forward to attending this Partners Worldwide conference tomorrow at LAUNCH, a community-based business incubator that's having a major impact on lives in the Chattanooga area through entrepreneurship and business training. Our team at Kingdom Business University is in the process of creating something similar at Metro Merge in South Atlanta. This will definitely be a time of great learning, networking, and fun as we strategize and collaborate on how to manifest our victory over this defeated foe.
Many Christians struggle with their perception of money, which is one reason why they struggle with their acquisition of money. You could be struggling financially if you grew believing statements similar to:
Overall more Americans believe that Christian values are at odds with capitalism and the free market than believe they are compatible. This pattern also holds among Christians. Among Christians in the U.S., only 38% believe that capitalism and free market are consistent with Christian values while 46% believe the two are at odds. (RELATED: What History Channel's The Bible Can Teach Christian Entrepreneurs) I believe the markets are not inherently evil. However, when immoral people absent submission to and direction from God get involved with anything including the financial markets, misuse and abuse are bound to happen. In this issue the title of my column is "Your Harvest is Ready", which describes our need as Christians to recognize how to take advantage of the great opportunities to prosper that are already right in front of us. I share some powerful insights that will help you identify what's already in your hand that God wants to use to bring abundance into your life. Here is a short excerpt... The reason many Christians struggle so much in the area of money is because they do not recognize how the Kingdom of God operates. Further they do not understand what they have already been given as royal family members. They mistakenly believe the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10 is only to be realized after we get to heaven. Therefore they go through continuous discouraging patterns of just getting by and barely having enough, somehow believing that this is God’s will for their lives. Enough is enough! It is time for us to be renewed and transformed in our thinking about money! Of course you wouldn't. And God doesn't treat us like that either.

Today President Barack Obama celebrated his second inauguration as President of the United States. Many commentators have acknowledged the significance of the fact that his swearing-in ceremony is 150 years since the Emancipation Proclamation and 50 years since the March on Washington. This is definitely a time to reflect on the past, but even more importantly a time to rethink the future based on how we engage the problems of today. I was listening a radio interview on NPR and the host asked her guest has Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream been fulfilled? I agreed with the guest when he answered that progress has been made, but his dream has not yet been fulfilled, especially when considering the focus of his messages in the latter years of his life. Poverty and war were two major topics that he hammered home in multiples speeches and writings. This is probably my favorite quote of his, which relates to how we as Christians should confront poverty: "The gospel at its best deals with the whole man, not only with his soul but also his body, not only his spiritual well-being but also his material well-being. A religion that professes a concern for the souls of men and is not equally concerned about the slums that damn them, the economic conditions that strangle them and the social conditions that cripple them is a dry-as-dust religion.” As we also commemorate Dr. King’s birthday and the National Day of Service today in his honor, it's a time to celebrate, but definitely not a time to rest. There is much work still to be done. This video describes some of the “revolutionary” ideas he had toward the end of his life, which is probably what ultimately got him killed. Watch and reflect...
"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." ~ John 14:26 It's interesting how Christians sometimes leave God out of the practical aspects of their business. The truth is God is just as concerned about your business as He is about all the other aspects of your life. One reason is because He can use your business as a platform for ministry, discipleship, and evangelism. Therefore, He wants to give you unique strategies to attract customers with great products and services, so that as your light shines brightly through business transactions, networking, and other transactions, they will see your great work and glorify God (Matthew 5:16).
Those strategies will often come straight from the Word of God. This is one of the things that's so incredible about the Bible. It's the VERY BEST resource for Christian entrepreneurs (and the Holy Spirit is your strategic competitive advantage in the marketplace). This ancient book of generationally transcendent wisdom is very applicable for 21st century business owners. Even when we evaluate what would be considered business best practices, I guarantee you that the core principle can be found in the Word of God. His wisdom is without boundaries! We have come through the Middle Ages, Industrial Age, Technology Age, Information Age, and now I believe we are in the Entrepreneurial Age. Fortunately, the Bible is applicable across all ages, cultures, and business industries. And the Bible provides insights and principles to all the core essentials of successful businesses, including strategic planning, human resource management, communications, financial management, customer service, leadership development, marketing, innovation, and more. So don't leave the Bible out of your business. Acknowledge God in all your ways, including all your business decisions, and He will guide you on profitable paths (Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 48:17). In fact if you are struggling with how to apply Biblical principles within your business operations we have an incredible opportunity for you coming next week, January 18-19. Dual Domination Business Boot Camp will provide you with spiritual and practical tools to building a thriving business and advance the Kingdom of God. You can attend live in San Diego or online by pay per view. Click the image below to learn more. How do you currently use the Bible to operate your business? Comments below... |
