History Channel's "The Bible" miniseries has been a ratings bonanza. The premiere on March 3 is cable's most-watched entertainment telecast this year. Further, the $22 million cost was paltry compared with the $200 million HBO spent on the 2010 war epic The Pacific. For Christian entrepreneurs in the business of creating content for your customers, you can learn a lot from this production. 10 Commandments of Content MarketingDaniel Chioco wrote in the Business2Community blog a very enlightening article that Christian entrepreneurs can use to glean from the well executed marketing plan of this historic TV program...
How can you apply marketing lessons from "The Bible" in your business? Leave your comments below... It's that time again for the release of Brotha Magazine's latest issue, which includes my column "Kingdom Business." In this issue the title of my column is "Your Harvest is Ready", which describes our need as Christians to recognize how to take advantage of the great opportunities to prosper that are already right in front of us. I share some powerful insights that will help you identify what's already in your hand that God wants to use to bring abundance into your life. Here is a short excerpt... The reason many Christians struggle so much in the area of money is because they do not recognize how the Kingdom of God operates. Further they do not understand what they have already been given as royal family members. They mistakenly believe the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10 is only to be realized after we get to heaven. Therefore they go through continuous discouraging patterns of just getting by and barely having enough, somehow believing that this is God’s will for their lives. Enough is enough! It is time for us to be renewed and transformed in our thinking about money! Of course you wouldn't. And God doesn't treat us like that either.

I recently read a great article on Harvard Business Review, Entrepreneurs: You're More Important Than Your Business Plan. It reminded me of the leadership quote, "Become a person of leadership before seeking a position of leadership." Make no mistake that a plan is needed. However, many entrepreneurs put too much stock in a great business plan and don't focus enough on equipping themselves to be a successful entrepreneur. This article points our some key factors that entrepreneurs need to possess in their character, mindset, and skills that will position them to succeed over the long-term:

The truth is God is just as concerned about your business as He is about all the other aspects of your life. One reason is because He can use your business as a platform for ministry, discipleship, and evangelism. Therefore, He wants to give you unique strategies to attract customers with great products and services, so that as your light shines brightly through business transactions, networking, and other transactions, they will see your great work and glorify God (Matthew 5:16).
Those strategies will often come straight from the Word of God. This is one of the things that's so incredible about the Bible. It's the VERY BEST resource for Christian entrepreneurs (and the Holy Spirit is your strategic competitive advantage in the marketplace). This ancient book of generationally transcendent wisdom is very applicable for 21st century business owners. Even when we evaluate what would be considered business best practices, I guarantee you that the core principle can be found in the Word of God. His wisdom is without boundaries! We have come through the Middle Ages, Industrial Age, Technology Age, Information Age, and now I believe we are in the Entrepreneurial Age. Fortunately, the Bible is applicable across all ages, cultures, and business industries. And the Bible provides insights and principles to all the core essentials of successful businesses, including strategic planning, human resource management, communications, financial management, customer service, leadership development, marketing, innovation, and more. So don't leave the Bible out of your business. Acknowledge God in all your ways, including all your business decisions, and He will guide you on profitable paths (Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 48:17). In fact if you are struggling with how to apply Biblical principles within your business operations we have an incredible opportunity for you coming next week, January 18-19. Dual Domination Business Boot Camp will provide you with spiritual and practical tools to building a thriving business and advance the Kingdom of God. Successful Entrepreneurs Function Like Farmers"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven." ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1 The holiday shopping season is in full swing. Businesses, are pulling out all the stops to woo customers into buying gifts for themselves, their friends and loved ones. Unfortunately, many of them attempt to apply uncomfortable pressure tactics to get customers to indulge in impulse purchases. Salespeople feel the pressure of getting sales and they transfer that pressure to their potential customers. It is unfortunate because they don't realize that they could have tons of customers year round - not just during the holidays - if they operated more like farmers and less like desperate potion pushers. Due to the fact that more than 80% of Americans live in urban areas, sometimes it’s difficult for us to relate to the habits and lifestyles of those who live in agricultural areas of our nation and world. Nevertheless, one can extract key lessons from agricultural best practices that can be used as transformational business and life principles. In order to get the greatest yield from the land, farmers understand they must plan for several factors, including available resources and constraints, geography and climate of the farm, and their own philosophy and culture among other things. Farmers also understand that different strategies are used at different times of the year to reap the best harvest based upon the types of crops they are producing. Likewise, entrepreneurs must plan and adjust their actions to harvest different business opportunities, because like crops they also come and go in cycles or seasons. Entrepreneurs must become keenly aware of the season/cycle in which their opportunities exist, so they can increase the size, frequency and quality of their harvest. Let’s dig a little deeper as we consider different types of “opportunity seasons” and how you can plan for them in your business.
