This is going to be a great experience for our youth to not only learn business building tools, but they will also acquire other transferable skills that will position them to thrive in any economic environment. Please promote this to teens ages 11 to 17 in your church or community. Learn more at www.incmydream.com/programs. One reason I'm very excited about this camp is because we'll be using curriculum based on my forthcoming book, Inc. My Dream: A God Inspired Process to Turn Your BIG Idea into a Dream Business. I'm committed to equipping the next generation to think entrepreneurially as problem solvers and this is just one step in the process. Also, on Friday, June 27th at 7 PM, we will have a special graduation ceremony where the teens will have a chance to present their business ideas. We are inviting families, friends, and business leaders from the community. Please join us! November 23, 2012 is a day that changed Lucia McBath's life forever. Her son, Jordan Davis, and his friends had stopped at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida, after having finished shopping on Black Friday. What occurred next is unconscionable. Police say the man parked next to them, 45-year-old Michael Dunn, got into a confrontation with them over loud music coming from their car and opened fire, hitting Jordan several times. Investigators say the teens had no weapons. Dunn claims he was threatened and is attempting to use Florida's controversial "Stand Your Ground" law as the basis of his defense. Join us Thursday night, December 5th, for a very special episode of Passion in Action TV as I have the privilege of speaking with Ms. McBath about her son and her efforts since his tragic death to get "Stand Your Ground" laws overturned in this country. Metro Merge recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to help fund a project that will give youth the opportunity to get hands-on entrepreneurship and media skills training. You can learn more about this project by clicking down below and the ways that you can contribute. We REALLY need your help to make this a reality. Thanks in advance for your consideration and donations. After all, it is my birthday :-)
Crowdfunding Campaign Overview Historic South Atlanta was once a thriving community of educational professionals that now suffers from a poverty level of 43%. It is our belief that a vibrant business community is essential to a healthy neighborhood. Metro Merge will utilize this youth media project to accomplish its mission to fight poverty by strengthening local businesses, specifically among youth. We're super excited about this opportunity to launch a community-focused media production company where we will equip youth with entrepreneurial skills in media content creation and distribution for social impact. This initiative is part of our overall commitment to fight poverty by growing small businesses and creating jobs. Specifically teens will have the opportunity to:
What We Need & What You Get We need $20,000 to launch this media production company. Here's what your donations will pay for:
***Check out these great perks you get when you give... The Impact
Studies show approximately 70% of students want to start their own business, but less than 30% receive the training they need to launch a successful business. Entrepreneurial training among youth has also been proven to increase interpersonal skills, academic achievement, and social responsibility, and decrease risky behavior. We realize youth are drawn to particular industries, such as media, technology, sports, and music. This initiative will allow them not just to be consumers, but to be creators of content, jobs, and opportunities for themselves and others. Other Ways You Can Help Some people just canât contribute, but that doesnât mean you canât help. Here's a couple other things you can do:
And thatâs all there is to it. ***Simply click here to donate: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/559110/wdgi/488965 We are going to have a very exciting show this week on Passion in Action TV. We will use this time to share our vision and give the community an opportunity to learn about our youth and adult entrepreneurship programs, which will launch in October. See you there! There is no doubt the verdict from the Trayvon Martin case in Sanford, Florida has had a polarizing effect across this country. Many people in the black community and others feel a great injustice was wrought with the acquittal of George Zimmerman. In situations like these it's hard not to be emotional no matter which side of the result that you're on. One thing for certain is that we still have a race relations problem in this country. And because this is true, we have to be as diligent and intentional as ever to see things from God's perspective in order to move forward in love, but also with the tools and strategies to root out injustice wherever it exists. Help us today at www.theunemploymentalternative.com. The Impact The vision of the Coalition of Concerned Citizens of Cedartown, GA - a diverse group including pastors, entrepreneurs, social workers, and city officials - is to use entrepreneurship education as a catalyst to bring social and economic empowerment back to a region that is challenged with crime, unemployment, poverty, and lack of opportunities. They have partnered with Kingdom Business University to provide entrepreneurship classes that will restore hope, launch new businesses, create jobs, and catalyze new opportunities for the unemployed, ex-offenders, and youth who have been unable to find viable work and sustainable income sources. The amount will go towards:curriculum, facilities, supplies, and other related expenses. Additional funds will also be applied toward establishing a business incubator that will provide on-going support to graduates. We have some great perks for those who contribute at the $25, $100, and $250 levels.
